Improving Access Pathways to Specialist Outpatient Clinics
Over half of all referrals to Specialist Outpatient Clinics at the Toowoomba Hospital are received from rural areas, especially the larger centres of Dalby, Warwick and Kingaroy. In 2008 it was identified that a large number of referrals to these clinics had not been actioned in over two years for a variety of reasons.
So, RHealth worked with Toowomba Hospital and GP Connections to assess and manage these referrals. Almost 1,000 referrals were reviewed and about a quarter of these were removed from the waiting list.
Specific referral templates and a service directory for Specialist Outpatient Clinics at Toowoomba Hospital have now been developed, and are available for download below.
