Each year RHealth and GP members put on a weekend of rural up-skilling sessions and fun in the bush for GPs, GP Registrars, Junior Doctors, Medical Students and other health professionals. St George Chapter initiated the Annual Postgrad Conference and it was recently decided to alternate the event between St George and Goondiwindi each year.
The St George Post Grad event was held 4-6 September 2009 with 35 delegates attending over the weekend. The event commenced with a welcome dinner and social evening on the Friday evening and was followed by a full-day Program on Saturday 5 September. Guest speakers on the Saturday program included Dr Russell Land, Dr Aldo Vacca, Dr Sheila Cook, Danielle Stowasser. Dr Michael Stowasser and Dr Jim Baker spoke at the Conference Dinner on the Saturday evening. The event concluded with a half-day program on Sunday 6 September with guest presenters Dr Sheila Cook and Professor Mike McGuckin.
Goondiwindi will be hosting the Gundy Medical Muster in September 2010.
