Amanda Bell - Program Officer (Community Nutrition Northen Downs)

Amanda Bell moved from New Zealand to join RHealth in September 2010 as the Community Nutritionist for the Northern Downs region.

Amanda’s role is to plan, implement and evaluate nutrition related health promoting activities throughout the Northern Downs. These activities focus on preventing nutrition related disease in all age groups and promoting healthy eating by affecting the food supply, food habits and the social environment. Amanda has a Bachelor of Science majoring in Human Nutrition (University of Otago), completed a Sports Nutrition Internship with Sports and Exercise Science New Zealand, holds a Certificate in Personal Training (New Zealand Institute of Sport) and is a Registered Exercise Professional.

Amanda is also working towards her Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health. Amanda has lived in New Zealand all her life and before commencing work with RHealth was based in Wellington as a Nutrition Consultant and Personal Trainer. In her three years living in Wellington she also taught nutrition for the New Zealand Institute of Sport, led outdoor bootcamps and completed a Sports Nutrition Internship whilst maintaining a high retention rate of nutrition and personal training clients. Amanda has a passion for what she does and aims to contribute to improving the food supply in rural areas, promote the importance of nutrition at critical life stages to reduce the risk of lifestyle related diseases, and help make the healthier choice the easier choice.
