Students Graduate: Training for a Future in Health

Students from Kingaroy, Toowoomba and Warwick will graduate with health qualifications in the first round of RHealth’s Training for a Future in Health Project on Wednesday 14 December at the Downs Club.

The group of 34 students include long-term unemployed or underemployed people, those who require a higher skill level to obtain employment, young people, parents and carers, older jobseekers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, living in regional, rural and remote areas.

Students are those that already possess an appropriate educational level to undertake Certificate III level competency training and are in the best position to work within the health industry.

The Training for a Future in Health Project helps address the major skills shortages being experienced in the health and community services sector.

RHealth in partnership with Health Industry Training Queensland (HITQ) is offering funded training for 100 people through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Productivity Places Program (PPP).

Students are able to complete a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance, Health Support Services or Health Services Assistance.

Positive feedback has been received from the current students. ‘I have found this course to be an enlightening, rewarding, educational experience with the assistance of a vibrant, enthusiastic and experienced trainer. I am improving my skills and preparing myself well to enter employment in the health industry,’ commented a Toowoomba student.

The Project is funded by the Australian Government Productivities Places Program and is coordinated under the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
